Career
Highlights
I explore serious issues of ocean pollution and climate crisis with imagination and humor, choosing to use art as a medium for hope. I seek to spark curiosity, conversation, and awareness with my work. From afar, my work resembles classical portraiture done with oils, but as the viewer moves closer it becomes clear that my work is made up of plastic trash, often objects that remind the viewer of their own possessions; razors, water guns, bottles, a doll leg, all debris I find on my morning ocean strolls. In this closer viewing, a quiet conversation begins, one of deeper questioning, of pondering our personal roles in the protection of our ecosystems.
I am honored to do this work, one that uses my years of classical art training, my experience in design, and my love for theatre and set design, to create one-of-a-kind portraits, that are both striking, as well as timely. Below are many of my career highlights through the decades.
